Hi! My name is Christian Canning

Creator of the comic series, ‘The Super Awesome Secret Adventures of Billy the Brave’.

Like most kids, I loved cartoons as a little boy and always wondered what it would be like to write my own cartoon. Well, one day I stopped wondering and started writing. I wrote day and night, script after script and even though I thought my work was good, I knew it just wasn’t good enough.

I needed a plan! I remembered my English teacher once telling me, ‘if you want to improve your writing, you must read every night’. I ignored it then but it’s funny how these things stick in your head. Reading wasn’t really my thing but I wanted to write the best stories ever so I was willing to give it a go.

I made my way to the local library and it was there that I stumbled upon the world of graphic novels. I thought, ‘what a cool way for reluctant readers to start reading’. I borrowed book after book and read every night. Before long, I was hooked, so much so that I turned my cartoon idea into a comic book. It took a little while to convert my idea to a comic but I loved every minute of it. I also noticed that the more I read, the better my writing became.

As I started writing book 2, I also began my search for someone to bring my first script to life and was extremely fortunate to come across 2 very talented artists, Edison Goncalves and Len Simon. Together we were able to create a super awesome little comic series that you can check out here. I hope you enjoy it!
